In February 2021, Medan recorded a deflation of 0.33 percent or occurred
decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 104.55 in January
2021 to 104.21 in February 2021. Deflation occurs because of it
the indicated price reduction, namely the food, beverage,
and tobacco 1.10 percent; and transportation group of
0.19 percent. Expenditure group that experienced an increase
index, namely, the clothing and footwear group by 0.06 percent;
group of equipment, tools, and routine home maintenance
stairs by 0.34 percent; the health group by 0.03 percent;
and the personal care and other services group by 0.43 percent.
Five other groups did not experience changes in index, namely
housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups;
information, communication and financial services group; recreation group,
sports and culture; education group; and supply groups
food and drink / restaurant.
